Bio

I have vivid childhood memories of holding my father's old 35mm Pentax in my hands. There was something I admired about its mystifying dials and buttons which could... somehow... capture what I saw and preserve it forever.

Three decades later, that magic is with me. I shoot with Canon digital cameras now, and while the technology is more advanced, the end result is essentially the same. With this miraculous tool we can document the fun and important moments in our own lives and in history!

Becoming a Wedding and Portrait photographer has been a natural progression. I cut my teeth studying art and photojournalism in Italy, India, and of course many excursions throughout the US. I learned the subtleties of studio lighting (and important mistakes to avoid!) over several years of managing small studios. I started my own business in 2006 with a commitment to quality imagery, customer service, and a positive, professional attitude. I love my job and could not picture doing anything else.

And yes, my father still has that Pentax. He has promised to give it to me someday - I just hope I can still find film for it!

Fun Facts!

• I have aspired to be a photographer since age four. This fact is documented in an old autograph book my parents still have.

• My tagline, "Preserving the art of the moment" is derived from the title of my college major: "Preserving the Moment: Photography, Art and Anthropology".

• I have taken thousands of photos of people taking pictures of other people. I hope to have a gallery show someday, and I try to repress the feeling that it is a very narcissistic side project.

• I have been using Photoshop since version 3, which came out in 1993. The program is so powerful, I still feel like I've got a lot to learn!

• I had never been a ''dog person' - until I met Lola.
