With a high fashion concept, and super dramatic location, we knew that this family portrait session was going to be amazing. The photographs did not disappoint! We met at Gray Whale Cove on an overcast afternoon, which acted as a natural soft box to give us a very flattering light. As promised, the family showed up dressed to the nines. Their impeccable styling combined with the breathtaking landscape was the perfect recipe for some pretty amazing family portraits!
During the shoot we photographed the entire family, some of just the kids, as well as some striking portraits of mom and dad!
We continued the shoot through dusk and were rewarded with high drama, vivid imagery.
We love ending our family portrait sessions with a little unscripted fun time where everyone can get their silly on. 🙂
We love romance, so it was so special to be asked to photograph this proposal. Erik really wanted Ashley to be surprised, so with the help of her sister, roommate, and the staff at the Kate Spade store in Walnut Creek, CA he arranged a very special shopping trip for her.
When they arrived at the store, the staff told Ashley that she was the 50,000th customer and was being lavished with gifts!
Finally, a staff member brought out the last gift…
We recently had a photo shoot with this soon to be married couple in downtown San Francisco. We took advantage of our location to get some fun, modern bridal portraits a few days before the wedding. The pictures are traditional, but with an urban edge. Styling for both the bride and groom provided by Guerrilla Makeovers.
In my front yard there is a giant acacia tree that blooms every January, which looks and smells heavenly. If you’ve been following my photography for a while you may all ready know this, but every year when the tree is in bloom I like to do a photo shoot with the beautiful mimosa flowers.
This year I collaborated with model Adrianna Reloba and makeup artist Lena Chavez on the shoot, which was fabulous! Adrianna did not miss a shot, and Lena’s work was flawless as usual. There were so many great shots to choose from. A few favorites are featured here. Enjoy!
I met Cheyenne at an engagement party for one of her friends, that I had been hired to photograph. We briefly talked that night about shooting together, and finally, almost a year later we were able to do so.
After hair and makeup was done by the very talented Lena Chavez, Cheyenne and I went for a hike through Alvarado Park in Wildcat Canyon, up to he grounds of the old Beglum Sanitarium.
I had been meaning to schedule a shoot at this location for several years now, so it was wonderful to finally have a great opportunity to do this shoot. Many thanks to Lena and Cheyenne, who were both so fantastic to collaborate with for this shoot.
We got to meet sweet baby Béo when he was only 8 days old for an in-home newborn photography session in Berkeley. As you can see, this little guy has a lot of personality! His mom has basically been a member of our extended family for almost 20 years so we were excited to do this photo shoot with them.
Béo was alert through most of the session and was very interested in everything that was going on around him He’s got an amazing presence sense of calm, especially for a newborn! He already sleeps through the night.
Here’s looking at you, kid!
He’s got a wonderful, fun, and loving family. We can’t wait to watch him grow up!
If you’ve been thinking about treating yourself to a boudoir session, or wanted to give your special someone some beautiful, intimate artwork this year for Valentine’s Day, now is the time! We’re offering a boudoir special through 2/14/15, which includes a beautiful, high quality 5×5 seamless bind book of your favorite photos from the session, all perfected and beautifully presented.. (Choose your favorites before 2/2 for delivery by Valentine’s Day.)
The seamless bind book that comes with this package is something we are really excited about. Because of the seamless design, your photos can be printed across the spread of two pages, without losing any of the image in the page gutter. The pages are thicker than than on a coffee table book and are made of photographic paper. They are really beautiful books, and the small 5×5 size makes a very sweet gift.
We recently met with Pam and Marvin at their waterfront office in the Alameda Marina to take some casual outdoor head shots for their respective businesses. Pam is the principal of Chaolysti, a solar energy consulting firm, and Marvin is founder of Hamon Engineering, which specializes in solar design, assessment, and implementation.
With the estuary in the background, the marina has a great variety of places to shoot. Bonus that it is under a mile from our studio!
While we were there we also snapped a few fun shots of them together, including this photo of the two of them posed with their bikes. (If you didn’t know, Alameda happens to be one of the best places in the Bay Area for biking. Not only are there beautiful vistas and historic spots everywhere, it’s also totally flat!) This is one of our favorite shots from the session:
I’m very pleased to be able to share new images from my Arboreal Entropy series with you! This series has turned into a long term project for me, and I plan to expand upon the series and continue adding new pieces. These are the most recent additions that I had printed and standout mounted for display at The Jingletown Jazz Room at Ale Industries during December 2014.
These photos are printed on metallic finish photo paper, and are ready to hang – no frame needed! They’re about 3/4″ thick and the edges are finished with a thin black plastic veneer. The standout mount results in a really slick looking piece of art and I love how it compliments these images.
For a limited time the first edition standout mounted prints of these new images are available for sale through the Art By Clayton shop on Etsy. If you are local and would prefer, you can also contact the studio purchase and pick up in person.
