In my front yard there is a giant acacia tree that blooms every January, which looks and smells heavenly. If you’ve been following my photography for a while you may all ready know this, but every year when the tree is in bloom I like to do a photo shoot with the beautiful mimosa flowers.
This year I collaborated with model Adrianna Reloba and makeup artist Lena Chavez on the shoot, which was fabulous! Adrianna did not miss a shot, and Lena’s work was flawless as usual. There were so many great shots to choose from. A few favorites are featured here. Enjoy!
First off, let me just say that I am thrilled about how this year’s “Acacia shoot” turned out. I hope you will agree that the photos turned out amazing! We met our model at a mutual friends wedding and immediately knew that she would be perfect for a fairy type shoot. Despite having no modeling experience she totally knocked it out of the park! What you see here is only a small sample of the TONS of fabulous images which is pretty exciting!
A few notes about this shoot: Hair and makeup by Lena Chavez who is so wonderful to work with and does beautiful work. Our model Thera designed and made all of the clothes you see here. Amazing, right?
Unlike previous years we kept this one out of the studio and shot outdoors in front of and in the branches of the tree, and surrounding areas.
The pictures above are a mixture of my favorites, and the models favorites. Definitely looking forward to working more with these to make some fairytography art, like this!
It’s very exciting to report that the 2014 acacia shoot was fabulous! We met our model Thera at a mutual friend’s wedding back in September and immediately knew she’d be a fantastic fairy type model. And, she makes her own super adorable outfits so we were able to get model and wardrobe coordinated with just one person! Amazing hair and makeup by Lena Chavez.
Pretty much all of the photos from this shoot look stunning right out of camera so it’s going to be a challenge to pick the best of the best from the 400+ shots snapped. While you wait, enjoy this first peek through the branches. 🙂
This past Sunday the stars aligned and the 2014 acacia shoot happened! This year was a little different as we did the shoot in my front yard with the tree as the back drop, where as in previous years branches were trimmed from the tree and taken into the studio. This year the tree did not really need it’s annual trimming and we were able to take advantage of the summer like weather we’ve been having here in the bay area.
Due to Monday being a busy office task catch up day for us I’ve barely had time to look at this years pics, but am pretty excited to have some time this afternoon to get into the editing process. I hope to have some sneak peeks for you in the next couple days! In the mean time please enjoy this collage of a few of my favorite images from previous acacia shoots.
